Biography

Elke Daemmrich was born the 19th Juli 1964 in Dresden, Germany.
She began to show a remarkable interest in art during her early childhood years.

1985/86 Studies Artschool Dresden, by Horst Weber.

From 1990 to 1994 she tooks part of the artiste groupe "Leipziger Blauer Reiter,
allround of Manfred Martin der Ältere.

In 1993 she was awarded a grant from the foundation "Kulturfonds" Berlin for her
French project "The light of the south". which gave her the opportunity to work
6 month in Lacoste, in the Provence, region in the south of France.
Upon moving to France she became fascinated with landscaps, light and energy.
In 1994 she moved to the southwest of France and near by Toulouse she bought
a medieval house, where she lives and works today.

She continues to exhibit in Germany and since 2003 she has worked from a studio
in Köln and currently from an another studio in her native Dresden.

During the last 23 years, Elke Daemmrich has had more than 70 solo exhibitions
and participated in 65 group exhibitions, notable those of the Goyamuseum in
Castres, the Museum of modern and contemporary art in Cordes sur Ciel, both in
France and the Museum of the Mediterranean, Torroella de Montgri, Girona, Spain.

She is member of two professional artists organisations, the BBK in Germany and
of the Maison des artistes in Paris.
